When I decided to embark on a life of sales I knew I had to study the great salespeople in order to reach for greatness myself. Most people shy away from a sales career using excuses like: “I can’t live on commission”, “I need to know how much my paycheck is going to be each week”, “I can’t sell” and so on and so forth.
I see sales in a different light. Sales allow me to “write my own paycheck!” Even when I have worked for a company in the sales division, a base salary was there but I always wanted something that offered high commissions because I can’t thrive on a “base” salary. If I work hard enough, the sky’s the limit. That philosophy paid off very well for me in my past life and definitely in my present!
One of the people I’ve studied in the past and revisit his teachings often is Zig Ziglar. To me he stated the golden rule in sales: “You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough people get what they want.” I lead with this thought daily as I work my business.
My mission with each prospect is to enroll them as a client after I’ve discovered that I can genuinely assist them with our services. In my line of work, I focus on how can I assist this person with a platform that will most benefit them financially. If there is no benefit to the client – then there is no sale and I’m ok with that.
If someone does anything with the mindset of WIIFM (what’s in it for me)…then they will not have a very successful career in anything. In my main business – business funding is what I consult with my clients on. I help business owners gain access to funding from $50,000 – $50,000,000.
Helping businesses keep their lifeline afloat is a great career but I do not believe one income stream is enough for me. I put just as much time and effort into recruiting new people to the Educational & Empowerment platform because seeing people earn upwards of 6-figures a year is a blessing I love to witness!
